LOGGER HURT AT LUMBERTON - Clarence Daly, Camp 4, Has Hip Dislocated by
Falling Tree.
A peculiar logging accident, in which Clarence Daly, aged 25, figured
Monday, resulted in the young man's sustaining a dislocation of his hip and
severe bruises about the face and head. Daly, who is employed at Camp 4 of
the B.C. Spruce Mills, Limited, felled a tree which, in falling, struck one
end of a windfall to rebound and impact against the woodsmen [sic] hip.
Daly was struck to the ground at the very moment the tree he had felled
skidded to the bruising of his head and face.
The hospital ambulance was sent for and Daly, after receiving first
aid at the camp, was rushed off to town. By chance the ambulance met Dr.
King's car, a fortunate meeting for Daly who was suffering considerably.
Dr. King examined the injured man and made his comfortable for the balance
of the journey to the hospital. Daly is now said to be resting easily
though several weeks will elapse before he will be in condition to resume
work.
