Castlegar Street View - 1929

Eremenko's comments on Castlegar, BC. Written on back of photo - "Looking down the road from RR bridge to the ferry crossing about one half mile away - along towards the Arrow Lakes and ferry. Building to the right is Johnny's garage and the one to the left is a government shack for tools! Eremenko's store - right corner not in view."

Bailey and Battensby Sawmill

The Murdoch Bailey and Battensby sawmill situated at the Fisher place at Albreda, where the Lenko house is now. Crew of men pictured are Jules Frye, Mike Frye, Virgil Kimmel, Fred Frye, Murdock Bailey, Sambo, Smith, Charlie Frye. Mrs. Battensby was sometimes cook, otherwise Murdock cooked. Lumber was hauled by an old Ford truck to Atkin's planer at Cedarside. It was noted Murdock lost his hair in the 1918 flu epidemic.
