A 2-page 6-fold illustrated pamphlet promoting Cranbrook as the tourism centre of the Columbia Basin. "Cranbrook is the Western Gateway to the whole Canadian Switzerland...." On the reverse is a full sheet "Tourist Map of East Kootenay." The whole is a delightful piece of work.

One interesting note is that the Kootenay Lake ferry was not free at this time. "Cranbrook is a community of homes, unpretentious, yet attractive and comfortable; shops, smart and up-to-date, well-stocked with whatever you need; services of every kind to ease your passage, or make your stay a pleasure."

Tourist Map of East Kootenay

A travel map of East Kootenay, printed on the full reverse side of the Cranbrook Board of trade "Gateway" pamphlet, featuring facilities for the auto tourist and showing the Banff-Windermere highway and the road between Radium and Golden as unpaved. In fact the only paved highway is that coming up through Kingsgate as far as Radium Hot Springs, and the highway out of Calgary through Banff to Lake Louise - everything else is dirt road.
