LOCAL NOTES

Business at the local post office was brisk all day yesterday, due to the fact that all circus people were anxious to drop a card to their relatives, scattered in the four corners of the globe.  Postmaster Harris reports the sale of a bushel of post cards with a corresponding sale of postage stamps.  Local drug stores report the sale of picture post cards more brisk than at any time in their history.  Several stores selling out completely.  The government vendor store was another very attractive spot for the circus crew.  From early morning till late afternoon a long line of thirsties filed up in front of the building.  The crowd became so dense that the police had to be called in and keep order.  The large number of negroes with the circus bought up all the gin in the emporium as well as several brands of Scotch whiskey.
