Three of the dominant buildings along Norbury Avenue, the second fire hall stands to the north of the unaltered City Hall building, with the Knights of Pythias Hall to the south. It was clear that Cranbrook was becoming a "substantial" city.

1969 Plane Crash at CPR Building in Cranbrook

Aftermath of the crash of a North American Harvard CF-WLW into a house very near the CPR roundhouse on Cobham Rd. The aircraft was doing an aerobatics display and lost power during a maneuver, the pilot attempted to recover and reach the airport but he did not have enough airspeed or height; his wing clipped a telephone pole and he cartwheeled into the house. He was killed in the crash.
