KAMLOOPS PHYSICIAN CRANBROOK SPEAKER. – Dr. Irvine Addresses Rotary On Behalf of The Canadian Advisory Committee.

Dr. Irvine, member of the Canadian national advisory committee of Rotary visited Cranbrook Wednesday evening and was the speaker at the club luncheon, postponed from  Tuesday noon.  The doctor is traveling British Columbia on behalf of the Canadian section of Rotary, which has adopted a strong Canadian stand for the development of a Canadian consciousness.  He impressed his audience with the importance of having all those who have not yet taken out citizenship papers to do so.  Rotary must set the high ideal for the making of good Canadian citizens from those of other lands now resident here.  The feeling on the part of men from other lands who came to Canada was, in many instances, that they were still foreigners.  The doctor pointed out that when men were taking out their naturalization papers the authorities should see that more impressiveness is put into the ceremony, convincing those people that Canada welcomed them into citizenship.

Revision of Canadian text books was also being looked into by the Canadian advisory committee, with the object of eliminating misleading or mischievous statements.
