Baker Street appears in the middle with the new Cranbrook Mall and hospital beyond. The snowy Steeples rise in the distance."

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII who abdicated) on a Canadian cross-country tour by rail stops in Cranbrook to an enthusiastic crowd. The car on which the Prince is standing is the Executive Day Car "Mount Stephan", while the adjacent car to the right is the companion Night Car "Strathcona" (the "Strathcona" was donated to the Cranbrook Railway Museum by private interests in the East). Pacific 4-6-2, Class G2f - "Silk Train" MILLION DOLLAR CARGO C.P.R.'s Silk Train, motive power supplied by Pacific 4-6-2 locomotive 2631, class G2f, charging eastbound through Morley, Alberta with whistle blowing and bell ringing in early May, 1928. There are 15 specially built through baggage cars each loaded with 470 bales of raw silk, valued at $733,333.00 per car, heading for New York demanding green light precedence over all manifest and passenger trains ahead of her. Travel time - 80-90 hours. From an original painting by Harlan Hiney.
