CPR Survey

            Asst. Engineer D.O. Lewis, of the C.P. road, the camp being located near the milk ranch, was in the city Monday night.  He says the line is located between Rossland and Trail, having succeeded in se curing a grade of 2 ½ per cent, only a small portion being over and no part of the line exceeds three per cent.  Two lines have been run, the lower one being more satisfactory to the engineers.  They expect to receive orders to move up the river, as they anticipate work in that direction.  Mr. Lewis says he has traveled over the greater part of the twenty-two miles that lies between Trail and the branch line at Robson, which he declares is a very feasible route.  Mr. Lewis says the C.P. people are not rapid movers but are sure when they do start; he predicts this country will have communication with all points, in less than a year.
