Funeral of Cranbrook Old-Timer held at family residence.

SYLVANUS RICHARDS DEAD

            One of Cranbrook’s old-timers passed away on New Year’s day, when Sylvanus Richards who has been in failing health for several months, dies at the family residence on Garden Avenue.

            Mr. Richards came to this district before the railway came through and was connected with the East Kootenay Lumber Company for many years.  He was within a few weeks of his sixty-ninth birthday, and leaves a widow, one son, Bert, and two daughters, Jennie, who was formerly a teacher in the city, and Mrs. Arthur Wallace.

            The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the residence of the deceased.  The arrangements are in the hands of the Key City Lodge, No. 42, I.O.O.F., of which Lodge Mr. Richards was a charter member.  The officiating clergyman will be the Rev. H. Wright.
