Cranbrook Lawn Tennis Club held annual meeting reporting three courts will be in perfect shape for upcoming season.

1938 COUNCIL WINDS UP ITS BUSINESS – Annual Reports Of Civic Departments Given – Gyro Offer Swimming Pool To City.

GYROS OFFERS SWIMMING POOL. – His Worship the Mayor reported that a meeting of the works committee held recently a delegation from the Cranbrook Gyro Club, consisting of Gordon Hanna and Dr. R.S. Geddes asked for an expression of the members of the Council as to a proposal from the Gyro Club to turn the swimming pool over to the city, the official presentation to be made at about the time of opening of the pool next year.

The delegation had stated that the Gyro Club felt that they would like to adopt some further community-build  (p8) –ing objective, and that this could best be done after the club had been released from further responsibility in connection with improvements and maintenance to the pool.  They had also expressed the opinion that the Gyro Club, before turning the pool over, would like to place a memorial of some kind at the site to commemorate the work accomplished by the club.

Mayor Roberts had advised the delegation that upon receipt of a definite proposal as to a memorial he had no doubt the Council would be glad to cooperate to the extent requested.
