BANKS CONSOLIDATED
The Bank of British Columbia has been absorbed by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.
A meeting of the shareholders of the Bank of Commerce will be held August 20 to ratify the transaction. This is one of the biggest financial deals ever put through in the Dominion of Canada. The combined banks will form an enormously strong monetary institution with a capital of eight million dollars and a rest of over $2,000,000. The authorized capital of the Canadian Bank of Commerce is $6,000,000. The reserve fund or rest of the Canadian Bank of Commerce was given in the last government bank returns as $1,250,000, and the rest of the Bank of British Columbia as $500,000.
