FERNIE FILMS, HISTORY NOW IN PRODUCTION
A Canadian Broadcasting Corporation crew from
Doug Forrester, who heads the four-man party, told a gathering of the Fernie Chamber of Commerce and other guests at a dinner Wednesday night that films of this sort are meant primarily to show aspects of life in other parts of B.C. to coastal residents. “We do not select our material as seen through the eyes of a local Chamber of Commerce,” he said. “We try to portray the communities as they really are, showing the good points without attempting to hide the bad.”
The films are used on CBUT’s “Seven O’Clock Show” which goes on the air each Monday through Thursday. Mr. Forrest said he hoped CJLH-TV Lethbridge would ask for the film with a view to making it available for local viewing.
Being interviewed on various aspects are T.G. Ewart, mines; Jack Crabb, geological; Percy Starr, hunting and fishing; Miss Myrtle Brown, history, and E.T. Dicks on prospects for the 1968 Winter Olympics.
Aerial shots of the city, prospective Winter Olympics site and other scenes of interest are being taken and may also be used in the show.
