There’s seven wonders in the words the ancient stories tell of Babel’s Tower an’ the Sphinx an’ monuments that fell,
But monumental wonders are common in our land
Since they sold us down the river
With the big High Arrow Dam.
Four miles up from Castlegar, the Columbia was dammed,
The water that is stored there, controlled by Uncle Sam,
This sets my mind to wonderin’ just what the fate will be
Of the big Columbia River
An’ the people of B.C.
We could divert the Kootenay into Columbia Lake;
By way of Thompson River
An’ on down through Hell’s Gate, create
A mighty combination of power in our hands
An’ build a future for ourselves
Instead of Uncle Sam.
An’ if this sounds unfriendly
Its time we changed the score
Been trying to stand up by ourselves
Since 1864.
And now, united on this issue,
It is time we took our stand
Canada for Canadians if this land is our land.
Is this land our land?
Or is it their land?
Does this land belong to you an’ me?
Is this land our land?
Or is it their land?
The answers are in the hands of you and me.
