The ties that bind

The School Days panel was created by the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History and The Triangle Women’s Institute as the beginning of a 20 part series of museum quality panels that will grace the Pioneer Hall walls in Grasmere.
These Grasmere and area schools were the foundation for a stable community.
Christmas concerts, school plays, sports, town hall meetings, and various events marked its importance. These buildings served much more than educating the youth in the area.
The schools created a hub for the community. Students, teachers, and children united friends and neighbours during school functions serving as a robust social tie for residents.
Roosville, Grasmere, Flagstone, Waldo, and Dorr all had their very own schools. Many teachers stayed with families over the years, establishing a spirit of togetherness between school and community.
