Imperial Bank Building

The Cranbrook Imperial Bank building built in 1909. In 1961 the Imperial Bank of Canada combined with the Canadian Bank of Commerce, and in 1973 they moved to the southwest corner of Baker Street and Norbury Avenue, leaving the building for the Chamber of Commerce to occupy for a time. The current owners, Cranbrook Photo Limited purchased the building in 1975.

The Anglican Church in Cranbrook, BC c.1910. The Cranbrook Anglican Church on 1st St. South (Louis) and 13th Avenue South (Burwell). It is the oldest church building in Cranbrook, built in 1898, only a few months after the railway arrived.

The old CPR-YMCA, built in 1910, stood at the far west end of Baker Street across Van Horne Street, near the railway tracks. It later became the Boys Club before being demolished in 1974.

The Imperial Bank of Canada building, constructed on the original townsite office lot on Baker Street in Cranbrook. The Imperial Bank opened in Cranbrook December 2, 1902 and this building was completed in 1909. The Imperial Bank of Canada eventually joined with the Canadian Bank of Commerce to form the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

Built in the late 1920s the Nurses School and Residence was located right behind and to the left of the St. Eugene Hospital. The building later became a fine-dining restaurant, cabaret, lounge and Hotel called The Coach Room on Briar Avenue West.

The Canadian Bank of Commerce Building, Cranbrook, B.C.

The Canadian Bank of Commerce building and Wentworth Hotel. The Canadian Bank of Commerce came to Cranbrook August 8, 1898, within a month of the arrival of the railway. Built at a cost of $15,000 it was one of Cranbrook's first imposing commercial structures. By 1967 the building no longer adequately accommodated bank business. The new (and present) Royal Bank building opened August 17th, 1968. The Wentworth Hotel can be seen behind the bank building.
