Manufacturers Independent Forestry Company, Revelstoke, B.C. June 12,1917. The Canadian Forestry Corps was an administrative corps of the Canadian Army. It was created during the First World War when it was discovered that huge quantities of wood were needed for use on the Western Front.

Logger holding a Pike Pole standing on the log pond. In lumbering they are used to control logs floating on a river in a log drive and constructing log rafts. Pike poles used in log rafting were originally made of wood, typically spruce or fir. In the mid-1960s they began to be made of aluminum tubing plugged with a wooden knob to maintain buoyancy. Specialized logging tools of similar appearance are peavey and cant hook. Can anyone help identify this logger?

1945/46 Bailey and Battensby mill at Albreda which is home of Henry Lenko now. Crew of men pictured are Jules Frye, Mike Frye, Virgil Kimmel, Fred Frye, Murdock Bailey, Sambo, Smith, Charlie Frye. Mrs. Battensby was sometimes cook otherwise Murdock cooked. Lumber was hauled by an old Ford truck to Atkin's planer at Cedarside. It was noted Murdock lost his hair in the 1918 flu.
