The Parkin house in Cranbrook, B.C., is often referred to as the Tower House. Built by John Parkin and several of his brothers and briefly occupied by by John some time in the second decade of the 1900s. It is located on 324 - 10th Avenue South (Norbury Avenue).

Cranbrook Architecture - The Nobles House
Cranbrook Architecture - The Nobles house was built in 1903 and located on 9th Avenue South (Armstrong Avenue). Originally it was a wooden building covered by traditional clapboard siding. In 1927 it was bricked over and demonstrates some fine brick-laying technique with interesting asymetrical proportions.

Cranbrook Architecture - Residence of J.D. McBride
Cranbrook Architecture - Built in 1901 for merchant W.T. Reid, it was purchased by hardware merchant J.D. McBride. Known as the city's largest private home it is located at 133-12th Avenue South (Garden Avenue), Cranbrook, B.C. Its hardwood floors with marquetry patterns are well-known to many older residents of the city.

Cranbrook Architecture - Dr. Miles Residence
Completed in 1914, on the day World War I broke out, by dentist Dr. Miles, this home is located at 301 - 12th Avenue South (Garden Avenue). The original shingle wall coverings were covered with a contemporary aluminum siding, but carefully done to preserve the strong character.

The E. Paterson home built in 1912 is located at 305 - 12th Avenue South (Garden Avenue), and was one of a few Cranbrook homes actually designed by an architect. It remains stately, surrounded by a large and beautifully landscaped yard.

Built by Harry White sometime before 1904, the house is located at the extreme south end of 10th Avenue (Norbury Avenue) and can be seen all the way from Baker Street downtown. The actual location is 913 4th Street South.

Cranbrook Architecture - Patmore Residence
The E.H. Patmore home, built in 1909 is located on the corner of 11th Avenue South (Fenwick Avenue) and 4th Street at the southern limits of where the city was located in that year. It was considered city limits until 1954. Note some very interesting exterior trim and the rare triple column corner groups.

Cranbrook Architecture - The CPR-YMCA
The old CPR-YMCA, built in 1910, stood at the far west end of Baker Street across Van Horne Street, near the railway tracks. It later became the Boys Club before being demolished in 1974.

Built in the late 1920s the Nurses School and Residence was located right behind and to the left of the St. Eugene Hospital. The building later became a fine-dining restaurant, cabaret, lounge and Hotel called The Coach Room on Briar Avenue West.

Cranbrook Architecture - St. Eugene Hospital
The St. Eugene Hospital on King Street was one of Cranbrook's largest landmarks, with an interesting historical background prior to its destruction by fire. At the time it burned it was operating as the Tudor House Hotel. The original Hospital was built in several stages between 1900 and 1912 and became one of the largest hospital and nurses schools in the interior.

Cranbrook Architecture - St. Mary's Catholic Church
St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 41 - 10th Avenue South (Norbury Avenue) was built in 1927, replacing an earler wooden church built in 1899. It is a major Cranbrook brick landmark and still is well used as a centre of worship for Cranbrook's Catholic community.
