Description:
Monarch Hotel was owned by Albert Hanson, The Hotel housed the workers of the mine, mainly Chinese. The Hotel burned down May 20, 1898 at 2 am. The furniture was saved and the rest was covered by Insurance. According to "The Golden Era" newspaper the Hotel was insured for $1500 and $500 for furniture, the cause was unknown.
