THE LOCAL GRIST.
Last Saturday night Alex McKenzie was given the contract to excavate for the water works reservoir, at 21 ¾ cents. He was required to furnish a bond in the sum of $155, which he produced, and Monday morning he began his work. The work consists of about 900 yards of excavation.

C.P.R.T. CHANGE.
The C.P.R. Telegraph Co. has decided to make Kaslo a more important point on the system and about the 5th of October will make this a general repeating point instead of Nelson, as heretofore.
