The new Catholic church is almost completed and will probably be dedicated next week.

A social dance at Olympic Hall brought out a large number of dancers last Friday night.

G.O. Buchanan has received orders for material for a new barge for the Hall Mines company, to duplicate the one just built here.

Friday night of last week the Presbyterian ladies gave a pleasant ice cream social at the church. The church was well attended.

The ball club is doing considerable practice work, getting ready for Sandon next week. A number will attend the Dominion Day exercises there.

The water bonds by-law will probably be returned from Mr. Bostock’s solicitor next week, when it will be at once submitted to the people for their approval.

Jim Macdonell came down Tuesday. His outfit completed the Whitewater wagon road Monday, and the work has been accepted. This will be one of the best roads in the country.

The lake is now above the usual high water mark. Monday night, when the sea was high, Green Bros. were forced to move a large quantity of flour from Cameron’s floating wharf. The K. & S. dock and depot platform are both weighed down with stone. It is thought the water will raise at least two feet higher.
