A KASLO INDUSTRY. Holland Bros. Have Made a Great Hit With Their Cigars.

While Canada makes the best whiskey in the world, not excepting the famous Kentucky brands, it is admitted that her cigars, as a rule, are correspondingly bad.  Why this should be is not explained, as Canada has the same opportunities to import tobaccos that are taken advantage of by other cigar-manufacturing countries.

However, the Kootenay has recently been removed from the general case by the establishment here in Kaslo of a cigar factory, the product of which is first class, and which will beyond question grow into an extensive and permanent concern.  It is only about six weeks since Holland Bros., a firm made up of I.D. and J.S. Holland, the former a cigar maker of life-long experience, launched the above enterprise, yet today the factory is swamped with orders: their goods have found a place in every cigar stand and bar in the country, and the management is arranging to enlarge the force of employees.  At present four people are employed in the factory, and should the demand for Kaslo-made cigars continue to increase at the present rate, the services of at least ten persons will be necessary to keep up with the orders.  Upwards of seven thousand cigars were made up before one was offered for sale.

The factory turns out four brands, which, though graded, differ only in size: pure Havana tobacco with Sumatra wrapper entering into the composition of all.  They are the “Invincible” – the factory’s leader – “The Traveler,” “The Leader,” and “Olsak Eht,” and another brand, “The Model House,” is soon to be placed on the market.  Nothing but the very choicest imported goods are made up into these brands.

Mr. I.D. Holland, the manager, is enthusiastic over the bright outlook for his enterprise.  He believes there is an opportunity to build up a great industry here, as the amount of cigars consumed in this country during the course of a year is enormous, and a first class article, such as he makes, is sure to be recognized and bought.

Those who believe in fostering home industry --- and who does not? --- should make it a point to call for these goods and take no other.
