VOICE OF THE PEOPLE. –

            Editor, Cranbrook Courier

            Cranbrook, B.C.

Sir: We would like to bring attention of the public to an article published in the Daily News, on August 16, 1930, under title “Sons of Freedom Tired of Working for the Community.”

First of all we would like to know who is that Son of Freedom, who spoke with the DeCarsby.  We declare that it was not one of the Sons of Freedom, but it is one of the wolves in the sheepskin, because Sons of Freedom have no enemies whatsoever.

We have never fought against governments, police, churches, groups, communities or individuals such as Veregin, Mackenzie King, Bennett, King George, etc.  But we do say that a hypocritical false following has taken the control of the above movements.  Our struggle is not against flesh or blood, but against the dark spirit of this world – Satan.

Therefore, we refute the contents of the article “Sons of Freedom Tired of Working for the Community.”  All our deeds are open and we have nothing to hide; we have no sly schemes or devices as referred to in the article.

Regarding the destruction of schools we will say the following: This is the work of some foreign organization, just as have been in the days of Rome, when Emperor [                   ] Rome and blamed the Christians.  This same destructive work continues to this day, as an example – [           ] Lordly (Veregin) was killed by [                 ] at Farron, B.C. in 1924.

Every man [         ] comprehension has understood that the above work was absolutely out of the Doukhobor character.

We sus[         ]the article “Sons of Freedom Tired of Working for the Community” [            ] there is somewhere a sly [               ] by an individual on a [              ] fulfilling the cunning plan [             ] blame it all on Sons of Freedom.

[             ] in the above article, that Sons of Freedom are trying to get down [                    ].  This is untruth.

Remember that Sons of Freedom are not so [        ] as most of the people think about them.  No sir!  We are seek [        ] cause of the evils in individuals – [         ] are far more deeper.

Now Doukhobors, we do not say that we are angels, but no matter how you ignore the Doukhobors but so far they have fulfilled Christianity in its fundamental principle more than anybody else and in this fulfillment we are giving credit to Peter Lordly (Veregin).

Christ taught complete communism, complete submission, complete forgiveness.

Therefore if we are not living up to these ideals we are nothing else but hypocrites, and know well that there is nothing near in our present world’s movements that could be classified under Christ’s name.  Is there anything that could be called Christian in our system of governments, police, armies, kings, churches, minister, etc., etc?

No Sir!  This is all an illusion.

Communism will come and if we will not accept it voluntarily it will be delivered unto us with violence.  This will be done through Bolshevism who are produced by our present Capitalism.  We are opposed to Bolshevist bloodshed.

Hurrah for passive Communism.  Hope this will throw some light in the Doukhobor question.
