MURRAY ROMBOUGH SETS RECORD AT POOL – Swims Length Fifty Times and Covers Distance of Over Two and a Third Miles.

Murray Rombough, sixteen year old Cranbrook boy employed in Manning’s Grocery, set a record at the swimming pool Wednesday afternoon when he swam fifty times from one end to the other.  The pool is 250 feet in length, so that he travelled in his journeyings to and fro 12,500 feet, or a little over two and a third miles.  Murray was not at all exhausted after his strenuous ordeal, and was back on his job at the store again early this morning looking as “fit as a fiddle.”  And, by the way, Murray does play the fiddle, and plays it well.  Some say the success of Murray’s exploit can be attributed to his training on Manning’s pure foods, nibbled at times when not engaged in waiting on the trade.  Whether or not this is true we are not in a position to make comment, but we know he is an ambitious boy, and would not be surprised to hear of him next tackling the English Channel.

            Murray’s time was 1 hr., 27 ½ min.
