GYROS ANNOUNCE ALL SET FOR BIG REGATTA. –

            With Gyro President Bill Cleave, of Kimberley, officiating in a highly efficient manner, Cranbrook Gyro club officers were inducted into office for the year, the installation taking place in the Victoria café on Tuesday, May 27.  The new officers are:

                        President – Gyro Bill Barber.

                        Vice-President – Gyro C.A. Mittun.

                        Treasurer – Gyro Jack Ellis.

                        Secretary – Gyro W.A. Fergie.

                        Sergeant-at-Arms – Gyro A.E. Leigh.

            Gyro Cleave, past president of Kimberley club, Gyro L. Crowe, and Gyro Bob McLeod, also of Kimberley, spoke briefly to compliment Cranbrook members on their enterprise in constructing one of the finest swimming pools in the west, in the interest of this city.  Gyro Alan McBroom, past president Cranbrook reviewed the work of the club during the past year, and expressed confidence in the ability of the newly installed officers.

            Committee Report: Called on by President Barber on his assuming the chair, Gyros Gray and Mittun reported as carnival committee that arrangements for the three-day frolic commencing June 5th, were complete to the last detail.

            Gyro Roy Harris and Jack McLaren, committee on lighting, reported plans for lighting the pool with vari-colored lamps also complete.  A gay spectacle is assured patrons of the carnival and regatta, they said.

            Reporting for the committee on water sports, Gyro A.E. Leigh and W.A. Fergie announced an interesting and lengthy programme and entry forms printed and ready.  There will be prizes for all events in which entrants outside as well as inside the city are invited to compete.  In addition to prizes placed in competition, a pair of Hudson Bay blankets tendered as prizes will be drawn for each evening.  The grand carnival prize, $100 in gold, with option of a free trip to Vancouver, will be drawn for on Saturday at 11 p.m.

            Water sports will commence each evening, beginning June 5th, promptly at 7:30 p.m.
