UNSELFISH EFFORT  [Editorial]

Members of two Cranbrook organizations, the Gyros and the Rotarians, have for the past several weeks been devoting their time unstintedly with the object of accomplishing something which will be of worth while to the city and community.  Each organization is staging a production which will not only furnish a few evenings’ entertainment for the public, but will raise money for worthy purposes.  The Gyros give the assurance that the swimming pool in Baker Park will be an accomplished fact, and the proceeds from the Rotary Minstrel show will be entirely devoted to community purposes.  It is well known that if you want anything done you must go to the busy man.  So in this case it is the busy men of Cranbrook who are active in this philanthropic work.  Imbued with a spirit of altruism they are neglecting their own affairs to accomplish something for the public weal.  In a personal way not a dollar will accrue to any member of either organization.  However, they will feel a certain satisfaction in the good they are striving to accomplish, and in this way will feel that they have at least tried to do something for the betterment of their community.

The Gyro stage “Mad Capers” at the Auditorium Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings of this week, and the Rotarians hold the boards at the Star Theatre next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  The efforts of both organizations are deserving of the heartiest support from the people of Cranbrook and surrounding district.
