ADDRESSES ROTARY CLUB

Mr. Charles Evans, of Marysville, president of the British Columbia Prospectors’ Association and poet of the Kootenays, was the speaker at the weekly luncheon of the Cranbrook Rotary Club Tuesday, his subject being in tune with the occasion of Christmas “Remember – and Forget.”  His theme was the brotherhood of man, the great desire to help one another than be continually in opposition to nature.  During his address he recited a number of his poems, making particular reference to the verse composed for the unveiling of the soldiers’ monument, paying tribute to the men who stood out in the defence of the country from the oppression of an enemy foe.

ROTARY MINSTREL SHOW

The Rotary club are putting the finishing touches to their practices for the Rotary Minstrel show, which will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings, January 5th and 6th.  Mr. Bower, leader of the Musical Society, and Frank MacPherson, who are responsible for the success of the first undertaking of this kind in Cranbrook in many years, are working overtime to have everything in readiness for the opening performance.  The chorus work is well under way and the end men are practicing their dope every night.  There will be local hits galore and snappy numbers throughout the entire show.
