LOCAL NOTES

            Mr. M.C. Rogers, who recently purchased three theatres at Lethbridge, is in the city today on business in connection with the purchase of the Star theatre.  Mr. Rogers stated his intention is to purchase a chain of theatres reaching from Calgary to Cranbrook and thereby reducing the purchase price of films, giving the benefit of the reduction to the public.  Interviewed today by a Courier representative Messrs. Blaine and Bailey, of the Star, said there was nothing for publication.

“BOB” BINNING SELLS OUT

            “Bob” Binning, Cranbrook’s photographer for the past fifteen years, has sold his business and residence property to Mr. William Barton, of Barrie, Ontario, who arrived in the city last week-end, accompanied by Mrs. Barton, and has taken over the Binning business.  “Bob” Binning’s leaving Cranbrook will be regretted by the business and sporting men of the district.  He was always interested in the city’s welfare and served as alderman for one term.  Mrs. Binning will be missed in church work, having been an active member of the Presbyterian Ladies Aid Society during her long residence here.  Mr. and Mrs. Binning left on Thursday afternoon for their future home in Barrie, Ontario, where Mr. Binning has purchased the photographic business of Mr. Barton.  A large number of old Cranbrook friends were at the station to say good-bye.

            Mr. Barton is not a stranger in the west, having been for years in the photographic art at Revelstoke, returning east a few years ago.  The lure of the west again called him and his second venture has brought him ionto East Kootenay.  First impressions stamp him as a winner and a good citizen.
