WILL VISIT CRANBROOK

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture for the province and professor F.T. Shutt chemist of the Central Experimental Farm at Ottawa, expect to reach Cranbrook on Thursday the 23rd August, they are studying the soil of the district and will give advice on such matters as come within the purview of their department and on Friday the 24th will give an address on soil cultivation in reference to the successful growing of crops and other similar objects.  Interested parties will be afforded an opportunity to obtain an expert opinion on (not an analysis) soils and water.  This will be of great assistance to practical ranchers and indeed to all owners of land.  We are in the dark as to the capabilities of the soil in this neighborhood, and work has been thrown away for want of the knowledge of the proper way to treat our soil under our particular climatic conditions.  The success which has attended the experiments of some of our enterprising settlers will be increased when the requirements of our lands are understood.  Notice of the place of meeting will be given later.
