OPENING OF THE GYMNASIUM. –

The official opening of the gymnasium for the season last Friday evening was one of the most successful events of the season.  There was a large crowd present and considering that it was the beginning, when the boys had had no training, the athletic part of the entertainment was far better than had been expected.  One of the pleasing features was the boxing contest between Mr. Sheridan and Ira Fierce.  There were several rounds and it was finally decided a draw.  The people are taking a great interest in the work of indoor athletes this year and there is no doubt but that the programs that are to be presented  will prove of more than ordinary interest.
