LIBRARY BOARD HAS YEAR’S FINAL MEET. –

The board of directors of the Cranbrook Public Library Association had their final meeting of the year in the library room over the post office Monday afternoon.  The next meeting, to be announced in The Courier when it is set, will be the annual general meeting when all library subscribers are asked to attend.  They will hear the financial report for the year, and the librarian’s report of the total circulation and the total membership.  At that meeting they will also have the opportunity of selecting their board of directors, who guide the policy of the library and select the new volumes to be purchased at intervals during the year.

At Monday’s meeting new shelves, built by L. Lundy, under the direction of Alec Steele and Martin Harris, were inspected.  The five shelf case is on the outside angle of a wall, providing shelf length of about fifteen feet.  The new books on which there is a ten cent fine for keeping them over a week, will be kept on these shelves, and will no longer be inconveniently piled on the windowsill.  These ten-cent-fine books circulate more widely and frequently than any other books in the library.

A decision was made that of the children’s book section the most worn volumes be disposed of.  A number of new books have come in and more are expected.

The board of directors, most of whom have served in this capacity for several years, are particularly anxious that subscribers attend the annual meeting.  The date is set by the authorities at Victoria and will be announced as soon as word is received from that point.
