WILL
Prompted by the many fine and well tended gardens in the city, and the pride their owners take in them, the Cranbrook Junior Chamber of Commerce Beautification committee have decided to stage a friendly competition this season.
To cover all branches, prizes will be awarded for amateur gardening, that is where owners take time off from their regular business and household occupations to care for their places.
Next awards will be for gardens where help is employed, and also for best vegetable gardens, best mixed gardens, and for best flower arrangement, quality and tidiness. Credit marks will be given, with a maximum of 100 points.
Judging will be made at different times during the summer so that credit will be given to competitors when their gardens are at their best.
Conditions governing the competition call for an entry fee of 25 cents, 15 cents of which will be given to the Red Cross. It is said some really valuable prizes will be given. Selection of judges and other details are yet to be worked out.
Entries may be left at The Courier office, but any member of the committee will gladly accept entries and impart all necessary information requested.
The entry form for the contest will be found in this issue on page seven.
