LOCALS WIN BALL GAME WEDNESDAY – Play Against Kimberley In Kootenay League Series Here – Score 11-7. –

With a burst of activity in the seventh inning when they were a run behind, Cranbrook brought five men in, and decided the outcome of a baseball encounter last night against the Kimberley team.  Final score of the match was 11 to 7.  Kimberley was well ahead, 7-4 up to the seventh inning.

High individual scorer was Lust of Cranbrook with three runs; other Cranbrook two-run scorers were K. Thompson, H. Thompson, and Kiever.  Kimberley’s Baribeau and Sortome each brought in two runs for their team.

Both teams were hitting well, and the fielders of the Kimberley team had a busy evening spreading out for several of the Cranbrook players who were sending the ball to the outermost corners.

Umpiring the game was George Holmes, while M. Biefare was base-umpire.

A small crowd attended the game which began promptly at 6:30 as scheduled, and was completed by 8:00 well before darkness set in.

            Cranbrook line-up: K. Thompson 3b; H. Thompson r.f.; Kiever 1b; Lust c.f.; Atchison 1b; Lewis c; Muirhead s.s.; Moore 2b; Gourlie p.

            Kimberley – Colvin 2b; LaFace c; Thomas c.f.; Baribeau 1b; Corbett 3b; Livingstone l.f.; Sortome s.s.; Moore r.f.; Dicken p.

Gourlie was new to the team in the pitcher’s box and did a creditable job.  The drive for importing a pitcher for the season is advancing rapidly with a substantial sum already in hand, and a lad from Saskatchewan is expected Thursday to fill the bill.

Prospects are good for a game next Sunday to be played against Naples, Idaho.  A game was played between the two teams there last week.  The Kootenai Kubs are the team in prospect and they come from a construction camp near Libby, Montana.
