Five more hikers ascend Fisher Peak.

OUTDOOR CLUB FOILED IN ITS DASH TO  PEAK. – Mt. Fisher Baffles Local Hiking Party. – Foggy Weather and Strong Gale Blowing Force Intrepid Explorers To Retrace Steps. –

Nineteen members of the Cranbrook Outdoor Club on Thanksgiving Day made a gallant dash for the highest pinnacle of Fisher Peak.  However, they played in hard luck, in that weather conditions were unfavorable and by the time they reached the point of beginning the real climb the top of the mountain was encircled in fog and there was a terrific gale blowing from the other side of the mountain range.

Those in the party were Myles Beale, Bert Crowe, Chester Roberts, Miss Mary Grant, Ed. Davies, Miss Doris Edwards, Miss Margaret Leonard, Miss Margaret McLaren, Miss Thelma Roberts, Miss Doris Eley, Frank Eley, Sherman Evans, Norman Reid, Ken Wickens, Stan Moffatt, A.D. Bridges, Ed. Taylor, Sam McLeary, Miss Peggy Reid, and Miss Evelyn Eley.

This party left Cranbrook in cars at 6 o’clock in the morning and arrived back in town about 5 o’clock in the evening, after spending a very enjoyable day.  In their ascent of the mountain they reached an altitude of 8,250 feet, showing they were only within 1,000 feet of the top.  They returned to the basin, built a huge bonfire and enjoyed their luncheon in comfort even though there was ice on the little ponds close by that would well bear skaters.

The party will make another attempt to reach the top, probably yet this fall if the weather remains favorable.
