BANK MANAGERS HOLD CONVENTION – Meeting Is Confined To Heads of Bank of Commerce Branches in the Kootenays.

Following a practice established last year, managers of branches in the Kootenays of the Canadian Bank of Commerce met here Thursday.  Presiding at the convention was Mr. D. Hamilton, superintendent of branches of the bank on the Pacific coast.  Object of the second annual meeting was a general comparing of notes and interchange of ideas relative to better service to the public and promotion of business interests throughout the district.  In all six branches were represented at the meeting, delegates being Messrs. F.C. Whitehouse, Nelson; J. McLennan, Trail; C.G. Bennett, Fernie; D.T. Scrimgeour, Creston; G.C. Saunders, Kimberley; J.H. McQuaid, Cranbrook.  It will be remembered that Mr. McLennan formerly held the position of accountant in the Cranbrook branch of the bank, being succeeded by Mr. MacDonald, the present incumbent of the post, in 1921.  Mr. Whitehouse took advantage of his being in proximity to the Sullivan Mine to pay Kimberley a visit, expressing himself as being greatly impressed by the magnitude of the work that is being carried on there.  Mr. Whitehouse, it may be in order to mention, has won a place for himself in the world of letters.  He has recently written a book under the title, “Plain Folks,” a story of prairie life that is being given a cordial reception by the reading public.  Mr. Whitehouse is also by way of being an entomologist of some note and has gained recognition in pursuing his hobby to the extent of having a rare form of insect life named for him as having brought it to the attention of scientists.
