Sunrise Bakery's 13th anniversary.

NEW BUILDING WILL HOUSE BOWLING ALLEYS; 9th AVE.

Work has started on a new building on 9th Avenue, next the Windsor Pool Rooms, for Joseph Sherbo of the Stop & Go Inn, who plans an establishment 110 feet by 40 feet which will house six bowling alleys and complete facilities including a milk bar and lunch counter.

The building will be of frame construction with stucco exterior, one storey at present, but with foundations suitable for an increase to two floors.  Mr. Makahara is the contractor in charge.

The alleys are to be planned with a 10-foot ceiling, and will be laid under supervision of the Brunswick Company, Vancouver, according to the latest design.  An oil-fired hot water heating system will be installed.

The building is expected to be completed by mid-August, with plans underway for a bowling opening September 1st.  The new quarters are to be the home of the present Cranbrook Bowling Association, which will transfer its operations there at that time.  Special arrangements are being made for the provision of ample spectator space.

The alleys will be soundproofed.  In the event the additional storey is incorporated later, Mr. Sherbo expects to plan it for apartments.
