LAKE WINDERMERE  (From our own correspondent)

Invermere, B.C., Aug. 25 – “We have just had a glorious time.”  These few words feelingly expressed told more than volumes of the enjoyable hours spent in the Lake Windermere district by the eleven men and 124 women who comprised the special party of the Federation of Canadian Teachers who visited this part for over twenty-four hours last week.  The party arrived in their special train on the morning of the twentieth, having come through from the West Kootenay and after a continued round of simple gaiety left the following morning in a train of special automobiles to visit the C.P.R. bungalow camps between and travel over the famous Windermere highway to Banff.

The register of the district Board of Trade shows that there were 138 guests who honored them for the day, included in this number were the C.P.R. officials in charge.  While here the C.P.R. Lake Windermere camp became their headquarters.  At it they were well attended by Mrs. H.B. Jackson and her staff of able assistants.

The members of the district Board of Trade took charge of the entertainment for the day, being specially directed by a committee under the chairmanship of Mr. James Sims.  The programme opened in the afternoon with an informal meet at the C.P.R. Lake Windermere bungalow camp after which nearly all the visitors were taken in private cars to see the Experimental station, followed by a trip through Athalmer, a visit to the Lake Windermere creamery and then on through and about the village of Windermere.  Amongst those who kindly drove or loaned cars for the trip were: -- Evelyn M. Sandilands, R.R. Bruce, L. Tegart, J. McN. Scott, A.G. Cuthbert, Dr. E. Coy, A.M. Chisholm, R.G. Newton, Invermere Contracting Co., Ltd (two), Frank Richardson, Alex. Ritchie, A. Taylor, A. Ashworth, J.E. Stoddart.  The evening proceedings comprised an informal dance in the David Thompson Memorial hall.  The floor was in good condition and the music as rendered by the Lake Windermere orchestra under Louis J. Diehl was par excellence.

Next morning the visitors were taken out by special automobiles chartered by the C.P.R. over the Banff-Windermere highway.
