LUMBERMAN DIED HERE TODAY – M.P. DeWolf Succumbs to Paralysis, Following Long Illness.

Mr. M.P. DeWolf, veteran timber cruiser and former timber buyer for the Weyerhauser interests in the United States and Canada, succumbed to paralysis early this morning, passing away in the St, Eugene Hospital at the age of 75 years.

The late Mr. DeWolf may be said to have been the dean of western lumbermen.  He was associated with the lumber business all his life, having gone into the woods in his native state of New York when but a boy.  From New York he went to Minnesota, where he gained much valuable experience in the pineries that existed there thirty years ago.  For the past twenty-six years he had been confidential advisor and timber buyer for the Weyerhauser people, making his home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and at which place he founded the First National Bank, to hold the presidency of that institution until a comparatively short time ago.

Mr. DeWolf was first stricken down by the malady that undermined his health in San Jose, California, in April last.  He was brought to the St. Eugene Hospital about two months ago, Mrs. DeWolf accompanying her husband to take up residence with their son, Mr. Alan DeWolf of this city.

The funeral will be held Sunday in Bonners Ferry where the elder DeWolfs have lived for the past quarter of a century.  Deep sympathy is being expressed for the widow and only son who survive the deceased.
