Cranbrook Realty Property Transfers

MANY TRANSFERS REALTY PROPERTY – Cranbrook Fast Becoming a City of Homes – Large Number of Transfers Effected.

            Real Estate movement, during the past week, has continued to be active, the demand for city and district properties being considerable.  In addition to selling four dwelling house properties and one warehouse property in the city, two farm properties adjacent to the city have been sold since the first of the month by the firm of Martin Bros.  Several other deals for properties in the city are under way and at least one other ranch sale will be completed shortly by this same firm.  Inquiries from people living in places surrounding Cranbrook indicate that the city’s advantages as a central residential point is appreciated.

            The former Manahan cottage on Fenwick Avenue, in which Mr. V.Z. Manning, Inspector of Schools, has resided during the past year, has been sold to the present tenants.  The deal was effected through the office of Martin Bros.

            The Verity house on Armstrong Avenue, next to the brick house occupied by Mr. C.T. Spence of the Co-Op store, has been sold during the week to local parties as an investment.  the new owners will continue to rent the property.  The deal was effected thru the office of Martin Bros.

            The Evans cottage on Cranbrook Street, next to the new dwelling house being erected by Mr. Harry Doris, has been sold to local people who will occupy it later in the summer.  This property was occupied by Mr. Roe, policeman of the C.P.R. here, for some time and has been disposed of by the estate of Mr. Evans who died in Vancouver recently.  The deal was effected through the office of Martin Bros.

            The Bent house with two lots on Dewar Ave., in this city, the property of Macdonald and Nisbet, has been sold to Mr. Robert Clarke, builder and contractor, of this city and will be completely renovated, and made into a modern dwelling with furnace and complete plumbing installed.  This house, which was built some years ago by Mr. Clarke, is of first class construction and when necessary repairs are made will be again one of the best houses in that neighborhood.  The deal was effected through the office of Martin Bros.

            The Brown Stage Line has purchased the C.S. Parker building and lot on Hanson Avenue, across the street from Kummer’s Bakery, and are remodeling the building so it will serve as stage office, dwelling and garage for the big buses operated by this firm between Cranbrook and Kimberley.  The deal was effected through the office of Martin Bros.

            Mr. John T. Parkin has moved into the John A. MacDonald residence on Cranbrook street which he purchased through Martin Bros.’ firm last week.

            The Jordan house recently occupied by Mr. John T. Parkin on Cranbrook Street is now occupied by the Bridge Building Branch of the B.C. Government.
