FIRST DEANERY MEET HELD IN CRANBROOK. –

Representatives from Cranbrook, Kimberley, Michel, Yahk and the WindermereValley attended the first deanery meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Anglican Church held here last Friday.  The meeting was held in the Parish Hall and opened with Holy Communion, Rev. Mr. Cushon communicant, and a sermon by Rev. Mr. Harrison.  Rev. Mr. McMorine of Michel was also present.  This was followed by an organization meeting.  Mrs. F.V. Harrison delivered the address of welcome, which was responded to by Mrs. B.G. Hamilton of Invermere.  Mrs. Harrison was elected chairman of the meeting, and Mrs. Hamilton secretary.

Mrs. Applewhaite, who stopped on her return from a Dominion board meeting in Ottawa to her home, addressed the meeting choosing for her subject, “The Organization and Work of the W.A. at Home and Overseas.”

Reports from the five branches were given by the delegates.  After this, Mrs. B.G. Hamilton spoke to the meeting of the Dominion and Diocesan mottoes.  The meeting adjourned temporarily.

Mrs. Applewhaite gave a brief resume of the Dominion annual meeting.  She spoke particularly of Bishop Sen, the first native bishop in China, who is associated with Bishop White in Honan, and was one of the chief speakers at the Dominion board meeting.
