PRODUCTION GAS VITAL TO CRANBROOK – City Will Expand With New Industry – A.T. Waite, of Pacific Petrol Products, Is Speaker at Rotary Club Luncheon Tuesday.

That Cranbrook will develop with the introduction of gas piped into the city from the well being drilled at Dorr by the Pacific Petrol Products company, was expressed by A.T. Waite, who was the guest speaker at the weekly luncheon Tuesday of the Cranbrook Rotary Club.  Wherever cheap power was obtained, the speaker said, manufacturing and kindred industries came in.  He instanced the many and varied industries brought to the city of Winnipeg as a direct result of cheap power.  Cranbrook was in a similar position with other towns and cities where low power rates was a big inducement for new industry.

Mr. Waite stated that should a gusher be brought in, apart altogether from the production of oil, the Consolidated Mining and Smelting company at Kimberley would contract for a large volume.  The pipe line would, of necessity, have to go through Cranbrook, which would give this city an abundance of power for light and heat.

President Flett thanked Mr. Waite for his enlightening address.

Following out the plan suggested by the boys’ work committee of Rotary, the club had as their guests two high school boys, Garnet Blaine and Malcolm McPhee, who enjoyed the meal hour with the Rots.
