            Contractor McCrimmon completed his work on Tuesday last, and will pull out, having nothing ahead on this line, or nothing certain in sight for the future.

            Resident Engineer Pratt departed Monday morning for an inspection of his division, which extends to Goat river and which will keep him away the entire week.

            Assistant Chief of Construction Turnbull was in town Sunday, returning to Wardner Monday.  Mr. Turnbull reports everything progressing entirely satisfactorily.

            Contractor Wellman was in town Tuesday afternoon, troubled with the prevailing “Canadian cholera,” and not feeling any too well, and things were not going as well in camp as he would like, but nevertheless a few days more will complete his contract.  He, too, has nothing in the way of a contract in sight for the future.

            Contractor O’Neill has nearly finished his work east of town – in fact probably will have when this appears in print.  To the end of his contract, west of town, the work is very light with no cuts or fills of any consequence, and the time consumed in completing it will be nominal.  Ties are strung almost the entire length of it.

            The latest reports from Wardner state that the trains will cross the bridge Friday of this week.  This will easily bring the steel into Cranbrook no later than the end of next week, and very probably sooner.  Work all along the line is progressing with rapidity, and the day of slow, unreliable and expensive transportation in East Kootenay will soon be a matter of history.
