Description:

Part of the 48th Battalion, raised in Victoria, B.C. on July 1st, 1915. It had a strength of 38 officers and one thousand and twenty other ranks, under the command of Lieutenat Colonel W.J. Holmes. In England the battalion was redesignated the 3rd Pioneer Battalion (48th Canadians). The Battalion served in France and Belgium in the 3rd Division and was eventually broken up to provide reinforcements to the Canadian Corps.
