Bold Gals and Big Game
Past Blast in the Trench
Bold Gals and Big Game, a unique addition to the Past Blast column in The Trench – Life + Culture in the Columbia, Creston & Elk Valleys Magazine, showcases a historical photograph from the Columbia Basin Institute of Regional History (CBIRH) digital archives.
This article celebrates the independence of Kootenay women from the past. The image shows women in skirts from the early 1900s, armed with rifles and hunting gear and wearing determined expressions. With their tenacity and survival skills, they hunted game for food and pleasure or used weapons to protect themselves from intruders or wildlife in the area.
Thank you to The Trench for celebrating our collective history in your winter edition. Your support helps the CBIRH to realize its crucial mission to document, showcase, and preserve the legacy of this region through virtual display and archiving. To read the article, visit: http://thetrenchmag.com/
