SCHOOL MATTERS. – Very Little Interest Evinced By The Parents.

Pursuant to a call of the school trustee, a meeting was held in the Opera House Tuesday night to devise ways and means for building a schoolhouse.  Although the town has been flooded with bills announcing the meeting, and every man in Trail knew the object of said meeting, yet there was not a man present who had a child attending school.  The meeting was not called to order.  S.K. Green was constituted a committee of one to solicit subscriptions for a school building, and started Wednesday morning on the proposition.  Bell, Naden & Co. headed the list with a present of 3000 feet of lumber, worth, anyway $36, and other names were added until, last night, about half the sum had been subscribed.  It is expected the balance will be subscribed today.

The lumber has been ordered for the new schoolhouse and work will commence thereon next week.  The room will be 24 x 40, with ante rooms, etc.
