Trail Social Notes: 0054.0328

NEWS OF THE WEEK

Since our last issue the society people of Trail have worn their store clothes almost all the time.  Saturday night there was a surprise party at Mrs. Frank Hanna’s, Sunday there was a large congregation to listen to Rev. Irwin, Monday night occurred the opening social dance of Profs. Graham and McCarty, Tuesday an excursion to Waneta and dance at Waneta Hotel – and it has taken the balance of the week for our citizens to recover from their unusual hilarity.

Last week Mrs. H.T. Bragdon and Mrs. A.E. Steele concluded that Trail was slow in a social sense, and proceeded to put the social wheel in motion.  They invited a number of the old-married folks of Trail to join them and surprise Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hanna at their new cottage, and Saturday night was set as the time.  At 8 o’clock the crowd met at Mrs. Bragdon’s and at about 8:15 ddropped in on Mrs. Hanna in a body.  There was card-playing and feasting, music and conversation until nearly Sunday morning, and all present enjoyed themselves immensely.  Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Bragdon, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Steele, , Mr. and Mrs. George Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Thompson, Mrs. Gray, Miss Howe, Miss Hill, Frank Seaman, Charles Gray and Frank Bernard.

Monday night last, Profs. Graham and McCarthy, assisted by Profs. Seaman and Bernard of the Trail orchestra, gave their first social dance of the season, which was well attended and a decided success.  Next Monday night they will give their second party, and one every Monday night during the remainder of the season.  Everyone invited to attend.
