Rotary In Spokane: 0052.0608

Cranbrook Rotarians and their wives were in evidence at the Rotary gathering held in Spokane last Thursday night.  Those attending from Cranbrook were President Frank Marsh and wife; Vice-president Henry Wilson, wife and daughter; Charlie Little and wife; G.C. Robson and wife; M.A. Beale and wife; J.P. Fink, wife and son; Secretary Alan Graham and wife; Bert Jones, Jack Delany and L.P. Sullivan.

The gathering included over 250 Rotarians and their lady friends, representing ten Inland Empire Rotary clubs, including three from British Columbia, Fernie, Nelson and Cranbrook.  Nelson went down in a special car.

President Miles Higley, of Spokane, after a short address of welcome, turned the meeting over to District Governor Frank Lamb, of Hoquiam, to conduct a round-table discussion which included attendance, classification, business ethics and education.  Some very able speeches on all four subjects were brought forward and the Cranbrook club learned something of inside Rotary stuff and came home better men as the result of the meeting.

Chuck Whitehead’s orchestra, heralded as the classiest in the Inland Empire, discoursed a programme of music, which included everything from the classical right down to that tantalizing jazz stuff, which usually outs everyone on edge.

Vincent Fink, of this city, was one of the headliners on the programme, with a violin solo, which took the assemblage by storm, the applause lasting for a minute.  President Higley complimented the talented musician “from the Mountains” on his very capable rendition.

President Marsh, of Cranbrook, on behalf of Cranbrook Rotary, presented District Governor Lamb with a photograph of himself taken during his visit to this district and wearing the garb of a Kimberley miner.  Frank expressed to the Governor the thanks of the Cranbrook Rots. for his very able and inspiring address during his recent visit to Cranbrook.
