LOCAL & GENERAL

            During the first five months of the present fiscal year 2,095 Chinese have entered Canada for the first time, each paying $500, or a total sum of $547,500.  During the year 1907-8 1,489 Chinese entered, paying head tax to the amount of $214,835.
