Property Owners Meet: 0050.0021

PROPERTY OWNERS TO MEET – Fort Steele Historic Site To Be Discussed.

An announcement published elsewhere in this issue of The Courier gives notice of a special meeting being called for next Sunday afternoon, January 8th at 2 p.m., in the Fort Steele public school, which property owners of Fort Steele are particularly requested to attend.

Purpose of the meeting is to discuss and decide on a policy of co-operation with the Provincial authorities to establish a regional historical memorial at Fort Steele within a prescribed area.

It is most desirable that a sympathetic and patriotic atmosphere prevail in order that a suitable and appropriate memorial to the district’s pioneers may be established in that area.  It is pointed out that during the past five years a great deal of work has been done to have the Provincial authorities consider this project, and it is hoped to arrive at local agreement in order that the opportunity to establish a fitting historical memorial be not lost.
