Aikens Block Sale: 0051.0684

IMPORTANT REAL ESTATE DEAL IS MADE HERE – A. Catsirelis, of Patricia Café, Makes Purchase of Aikens Block

One of the most important real estate deals made in Cranbrook since the tide of affairs turned for the better is now underway, so it is reported. The deal involves the sale of the Aiken block, which stands at the corner of Baker and Cranbrook streets and is known as one of the most desirable locations in the city. A. Catsirelis, proprietor of the Patricia Café, is the perspective purchaser, and the deal is being put through the office of T. M. Roberts, real estate agent, who is local representative of the owners, who are said to be Calgary and Winnipeg men.

It is understood that Mr. Catsirelis is buying the property as an investment, and that the present tenants will not be disturbed. They are Moffat’s Variety store, Englehardt’s watch repair, Art Bullock’s barbershop, Barney Scott tailor, Nu-Way café, Laurie sign works and Hanna Tire and Battery service.

The building which faces two streets, was probably the most important structure in Cranbrook at the time it was erected more than thirty years ago. The owners at that time were J. M. Aikens, K.C.; L.A. Hamilton, of CPR Lands department; and Sir William White of the CPR.

The amount of money involved in the present transaction has not been disclosed.
