Predicting the Blackfoot Mines Stampede: 0052.0007

STAMPEDE OF MINERS. – The people of Portland expect to reap a fine harvest in the coming spring out of the miners en route to the Montana mines.  A private letter says 20,000 are expected to pass through, but this we discredit as the mines will be chiefly peopled and supplied from the other side of the mountains.  From all the accounts hitherto received it is fair to say that the miners on this coast will have a fairer field before them in the recently discovered rich mines on the Columbia.
